Orthopaedic Services George / Barkley Oates Inc.

Founded by Mike Barkley, Orthopaedic Services George has provided orthotic, prosthetic, and rehabilitation services to the Southern Cape community since 1979. After initially operating monthly clinics from Cape Town, Mike relocated to George in 1983 and established a permanent practice, dedicated to improving mobility and quality of life for people with disabilities.

In 1999, Allan Oates joined the practice, forming Barkley Oates Inc. Together they expanded services and developed Prosthetic Solutions, distributing internationally recognised prosthetic technologies throughout Southern Africa.

With more than four decades of service, Barkley Oates has built a reputation for clinical excellence, innovation, and professional training. The practice is an accredited training centre and has helped develop numerous orthotists and prosthetists who now serve communities across South Africa and internationally.

Today, Barkley Oates remains committed to delivering high-quality orthotic, prosthetic, and rehabilitation solutions, helping patients achieve greater independence and mobility.
