We were all delighted that the cold and windy weather was delayed by one day for our golf day to be absolutely beautiful. As Lloyd Martindale the Manager of George Golf Club blew the hooter at 12:00, the 21 four balls all started at once. Nearly all the tee boxes were sponsored and the players were treated to all sorts of goodies as they went around the course. All the 4 balls were back well in time before it began to get dark.

A lovely lamb potjie made by Lloyd was served and everyone was in good spirits by the time Louis van Rensburg took the microphone to auction the 4 night 5 day stay prize from Golf Resorts Club. The bidding was entertaining and exciting and was finally won by George Craull from Tavcor.

The winners of the days golf were Charles Wolmarans and Bill Barkley with Brett Elliss and Sal Marsilio coming in a close second.

The Chamber's Charity for the day was the SPCA and they received some badly needed equipment from the proceeds of the day and R500 worth of food for the dogs and cats. Winnie Swanepoel the manager of the SPCA was delighted with the gifts and said that having the correct equipment makes their job very much easier and safer. And of course they are always in need of donations of food.
