I am sure that if I did a survey of the companies in George, I would find that there are many business persons who are proud to be known at their community services clubs as director of companies' but do not have the faintest idea what that means. All it takes is a soft board minute and the completion of a suitable from for the companies office and hey presto I am a director of companies.

I am also sure that if I were to point out the very onerous nature of accepting the position as director, I would be told that things are different here in the Western Cape and that we are not bothered with all the company laws and stuff. That is for companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and has nothing to do with us. Besides if we have a problem we just bully our auditors and they fix it.
